Social Preview Generator is a local-first Chrome extension that captures the current tab, lets you adjust the crop, and downloads a 1200 x 630 PNG image.

Summary

Screenshots are processed locally in your browser. The extension does not upload screenshots to a server, does not require an account, and does not include analytics or advertising trackers.

Data Handling

The extension may temporarily store the following data locally in your browser profile:

• a temporary captured image while the editor tab opens
• the last-used capture delay option
• the Close after download preference

This data is used only to provide the extension’s functionality.

Data Sharing

Social Preview Generator does not transmit screenshots or usage data to external servers. The project does not sell, rent, or share personal information for advertising purposes.

Permissions

• activeTab to access the page you explicitly choose to capture
• scripting to inject the delayed-capture countdown overlay
• downloads to save the generated PNG
• storage to store temporary local state and preferences
• notifications to show failure messages
